KOLIADA in CHERRY VALLEY
Koliada returns! This time we’re seeking performers to join our troupe. We are in the dark times and it will get darker before it is over. The light will not return unless we scare away the darkness! Join us as a performer for Koliada, the ancient Slavic winter tradition of becoming giant animals, lightness, darkness, and ancestors. Learn more about Koliada here.
This year we’re seeking performers to join our roving band of forest creature troubadours, sharing songs & stories of community, and love overcoming darkness & fear. Performer Compensation is made possible by our hosting partners.
Through a series of free workshops and rehearsals, we will take Koliada to the village of Cherry Valley and beyond to share what we’ve created and learned together.
Koliada is a project of reGathering.
Performances
Performances are required for performers.

Workshops & Rehearsals
Workshops are free. Workshops are open to the general public. This year we are combining the first 2 rehearsals with the workshops.
Workshops and rehearsals are REQUIRED. You will be crafting your mask and costume, and learn the material.

There will be a rehearsal on a weekday at Hartwick College in the days before our performance.
Requirements
Performers are required to:
Attend 11/8, 11/11, HARTWICK TBD rehearsals
Attend the 4 performance dates
Create a costume, ready by the performance dates
Learn the Koliada songs
Learn the Koliada script (to be provided once accepted)
Be in communication on the WhatsApp group (you will be added once accepted)
This is our main method of communicating with the cast, please check our chat for announcements and more.
Without meeting this criteria, you will not be eligible for compensation.
Compensation
After meeting requirements and the final performances, compensation of $200 is granted in the form of a check.
This is made possible by the performance fees we are receiving from our hosts.
